Lego Scale Model City

It was good news for Johannes van Galen’s parents that their son has moved out because he is loco over Lego. Van Galen is a Lego enthusiast leaning to the far extreme but this does not mean this is a bad thing because he has created a Lego model city. This uber geeky dude started playing with the world famous building blocks when he was 6 years old.
Van Galen hails from original Lego land –Denmark. This Danish Lego fan later on went to the US to study and brought his Lego collection with him. So much for leaving your heart in Denmark –Van Galen brought it all with him; he is a big man now though but he still loves his Lego the way he adored them when he was six.
As we may all know, you can make anything from these colored bricks. You can make houses, jetplanes, fire trucks, skyscrapers, bridges, anything you can think of and Van Galen did all this. The whole project took him months to build. He started building the little homes and the little buildings in his home and then transported them in boxes to be assembled at the Family Church in the Bay Area.
Van Galen also built shopping malls, train stations, high rise apartments, fire stations, the works. He has built a complete model city. A few other builders contributed their own little houses all in Lego.
If you want to go and see the display for yourself you can visit in the Bay Area from 10 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon and on August 23, 2009 from 1 in the afternoon to 5. Just go to the Bay Area Family Church located at 2305 Washington Ave., San Leandro. It is free for children under 6 years old.
