British crooner Amy Winehouse was born Amy Jade Winehouse in London, England. The singer-songwriter debuted with Frank in 2003 and the album was commercially successful in the UK.
Although Amy Winehouse is a celebrated artist because of her admirable talent for singing and composing, she is very well-known in terms of her drug addiction. The tattoo-clad British singer is still an icon though and thanks to the Lego Group, her image has been immortalized through the little coloured bricks.
Amy started playing guitar at the age of 13. A year later, she started writing music. Her career in show business started with the World Entertainment News Network. She was a journalist for the said publication while she worked as a jazz singer at night. Her then boyfriend Tyler James sent Winehouse’s demo tape to A&R and the singer later on became an astounding success
Her success in the international music scene followed suit and this started when the crooner incorporated 50s and 60s girl group songs. In May of 2006, Winehouse released her controversial “Pumps” song and her equally celebrated Rehab.
News about Winehouse’s success was all over V networks but it was soon replaced by a not-so-sober and disgustingly thin image of the British singer.
Her trips to rehab and her fight with alcoholism and drug addiction became a losing battle. Winehouse married her longtime boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil in May of 2007 in a Miami beach property. Winehouse later on admitted that she became violent towards her husband when she was drunk. Many Winehouse fans believe that Fielder-Civil introduced the singer to crack cocaine and heroin.
Fielder-Civil was imprisoned and just last year, Winehouse was seen canoodling with Josh Bowman. She later on admitted that her marriage to Fielder-Civil was based on doing drugs and not love. The two were later divorced.
