Lego are indeed one of the must-have toys of all time. Even if it has been around for so many decades, kids and parents are still amused by this very versatile construction toy.
It even went through a series of transformations which is why the old Lego seem a bit different from the new ones. However, even though it went through multiple transformations, one thing remains the same about this building toy –you can still interlock them.
It can cause harm on your kid if you ignore the safety guidelines when playing with Lego bricks. Below are some of the safety precautions that must be observed by parents and guardians during Lego playtime.
Don’t take your eyes off your child when he’s playing with Lego blocks.
Even if you have taken the time to make sure that there are no small Lego pieces in your kid’s toy box, you’ll never know when he or she might swallow big Lego pieces –if he or she has that big of an appetite. Also, the imagination of kids at this point in their lives is very ludicrous. You’ll never know when they are going to have a crazy idea that involves Lego that can possibly put their health and lives in danger. Aside from swallowing the rather large blocks i.e. for Duplo, might also construct a chair and might not be able to make it as sturdy as it should be causing danger to the child. Remember that it is not the bricks that are dangerous, it is how your kids play with their Lego blocks.
Clean your kid’s Lego storage box regularly.
A sea of Lego blocks can easily hide other toys that are not supposed to be there. This is why you need to make sure that you clean out the box that you use to store your kid’s Lego items especially if you’re the type of parent who lets his or her kids put their toys to their storage boxes on their own. You should also observe your kid whenever he’s cleaning his toys.
Make sure you buy the original Legos.
The sad part about the popularity of Legos is that it has pushed certain companies to make knock offs to sell the toy to other people. These Lego imitations may be made from a harmful substance which is why buying original Lego items is always recommended.
