Why are minifigs yellow? Minifigs being yellow is an age-old issue but it hasn’t been put to rest by many of Lego’s critics. Although Lego says it is a neutral colour
others say most minifigs seem to be Chinese or any other nationality under the mongoloid race. Whichever the case, Lego makes sure that there is really no race bias in this situation.
Lego said the neutral colour was chosen so that Lego fans the world over will be able to appreciate the minifigs and the sets they go with without race issues.
Political Correctness
It seems that the world of toys are criticized by child psychology experts and they can be downright mean or just downright narrow minded. This is not to say that all of them are wrong but they surely spiked some sort of revolution when it comes to political correctness and awareness of our surroundings in general. Lego is not the only one involved in such an issue though because Barbie and other world favourites are also being scrutinized.
Minifigs With Different Ethnic Backgrounds
A decade or so ago, the Lego Group started producing minifigs with different ethnic backgrounds. This was done for celebrity minifigs and those minifigs that are based on movie characters.
Basically, Lego minifigs are now as diverse as the world itself making it possible for kids to appreciate diversity.
Society
Of course no one can say that he or she does not have any biases because one way or the other we have biases but one thing is for sure and have been agreed upon by intellectuals the world over –race should never be an issue. Brown, black, red, white, yellow are just skin pigmentation.
This is of course easier said since this is the acceptable opinion. There is still discrimination the world over no matter how advanced we are in terms of our rights and the rights of others.
