Ever wondered what people who love Lego think about? Apart from creating “stuff”, Lego enthusiasts are now engaging in discussions on what Lego should manufacture.

Ollie Teakel, a Lego fan from the UK said in Lego’s Facebook page, “What i dont understand is why they havent made like Lord of the Rings, James Bond, these are just as big as Star Wars, Spider man, Indiana  Jones, etc.” And Teakel is right, how come Lego hasn’t produced any of these themes? Sure we’ve seen quite a few Lego James Bonds in the past but they are all custom-made and not really something a Bond fan would be able to buy in a Lego shop.

Christ Lamerton said, “I always thought that they should have made Lord of the Rings lego. I would have happly wasted my money on making an uruk-hi army or an Gondor army. It just would have worked.”

Although there seem to be a lot of Lego fans who want themes based on books and movies, there is of course dissenting opinion. Alejandro Cepeda from Bogota, Colombia posted, “I really don’t like the specific topic-based lego sets. I loved to use my own castle figures to recreate things from the Lord of the rings and stuff like that. I guess it can really help develop the creativity of kids if things are not book or movie based. Of course it doesn’t help for sellings, so they have to keep doing it.
But for me, now that they have developed so many video games, what I really would love would be a castle settings based MMORPG!!!”

These are of course very interesting insights from fans but while others were typing away their dream Lego sets, Christopher David Chapple Holt interjected, “But seriously guys, the most glaring ommision from lego’s catalogue has to be furniture. I’m talking beds, sinks and lavatories. I know the whole point is to test kids creativity, and I did feel pretty damn proud when I made a lego bath, but some things are simply impossible.”
