Love trucks? With Lego Technic, you would really be able to appreciate trucks more. If you haven’t seen Lego.com’s galleries, you should do so now.

This part of the website showcases younger builders from those as young as 7 to teenagers.

This truck (a unimog) was made by 16 year old LDDPerson (real name unknown). There are other creations done by LDD and there are other builders whose work you can take a look at too.

What is Lego Technic?

Also known as Technical Lego or Expert Builder, Lego Technic is one of the most popular Lego items. A favorite among advanced builders, the theme was first released in 1977 and is still one of the most celebrated themes from Lego to date.

Lego Technic interconnects plastic rods and other parts to create very complex models i.e. vehicles or machines with movable arms or those with wheels. Originally called Technical Sets, Lego Technic was renamed Technic in the year 1984 to make it sound simpler.

Making something out of your Lego Technic kit is not that simple though because there are very special pieces included in these sets. Most of the time, Technic sets have gears, pins, beams, and axles. There are even sets that come with electric motors.

To the young Lego enthusiast, Lego Technic may sound like the Bionicle sets or the power miners but it’s not. Lego Technic however is the direct ancestor of these sets (Bionicle and Power Miners). Pretty cool huh?

Apart from Bionicle and Power Miners, Lego Technic also gave birth to the uber popular Mindstorms –the Lego Group’s robotic line.

Since Lego Technic is highly Technical Lego, sets keep on changing. It goes with the times of course because it won’t be too Technic-like anymore if it is using late 70s technology right?
