The Octan Fuel Company is a fictional oil company established by the Lego group as part of its existing sets. Prior to its first appearance in 1992, Shell was the common gasoline brand found in Lego sets.

And because this fictional fuel company is as much a part of the Lego world as every brick ever made, the Lego community decided to create a special build challenge that features the Octan fuel company.

LUGnuts is a Lego community which caters to Lego builders that love to build anything related to vehicles. Call it a Lego car club, if you may. And just recently, Lugnuts chose the 39th build challenge to be themed on Octan. This meant building mocs of racing vehicles, support vehicles, cars, boats, or anything that can be raced or part of race, or something that features the colors of the Octan logo.

Right after the challenge was announced, and not a moment too soon, people from across the globe submitted their designs. You’ll be surprised what kind of things these people can come up with in such a short span of time, and this article will show you three of the best.

This piece was done by a flickr user named Ricecracker. For the build challenge, he opted for a speedboat. But naturally, the speedboat had to come with a trailer, and a Ford F-350 to pull the watercraft.

Envisioning a ‘greener’ Octan fuel company, Legogil gave Octan a new company image by allowing the company to explore sustainable energy. Legogil created this electric car, and a matching Octan recharging station.

Finally, for the quirky and extreme, this Beatle by Lino M speaks of Octan’s love for racing in all its varieties. Octan not only goes on road racing, but also even off-road racing with this Baja Beatle.
