You should buy a lady minifig. Find her in a noisy Lego store in the mall near you. Find her in the midst of Legomen sweating after a long day at a construction site. Find her in a box –a colourful one at that.
Wherever you find her, find her flashing that blank smile. Make sure that her blank stare lingers when children looking at her look away. Find her smiling and staring blankly at you –wishing to be bought.
Engage her in a Lego joke or two. Use pick-up lines that you will never use on a real girl. Ignore the people looking at you. Take her box and lovingly carry it to the cashier. Just get the receipt. Do not put her in a plastic bag so she can breathe. After all, she is not as strong as the Legomen.
Let her see the world outside the Lego shop for all she’s seen is the factory, the darkness of a delivery truck and more darkness inside the larger boxes where her box was put. Of course, she has seen the bright lights at the colorful Lego shop but she has also seen the dead of the night when the shop is closed and there is silence amongst all the minifigs. Silence in their cells.
Bring her to your Lego city. Have her interact with all the great things you’ve built. Let her enjoy the river or the sea. Let her ride the train that goes round and round the tall buildings and the small cafes. Let her talk to all the men in the neighborhood. Let her dazzle them with her voice and her long hair. Let her interact with all these minifigs. Let her go on a few dates. Let her live as if she has never lived before because she hasn’t –for she was in captivity for a very long time.
