Octan, in the Lego world, is a fictional fuel company that provides fuel for all vehicles. In the recent Lugnuts Challenge, Octan was the chosen theme for the build.

People from all over the Lego community have submitted some of the most outrageous builds that depict the Octan colors and logo.

During the challenge, people have turned up with mocs of cars of all types, boats, trucks, even futuristic vehicles. But one submition stood out from all the others. It was Mark Stafford’s Octan Mech that had no rivals in the challenge, being the only mech in the collection.

The whole idea of an Octan Mech was perhaps far from what anyone expected from the Lugnuts challenge. When everyone else was used to associating Octan with racing vehicles and the like, here comes Mark with a fresh idea of a mecha with the octan brand on it. Not to mention, one of the most awesome back-story ever!

This walking and shooting piece of heavy defense machinery, the Octan Sec-Mech, its full name, stands mighty-looking as it is set on a diorama with one of the most amazing terrain ever made. The Octan Mech stands guarding the pipeline that supplies the human settlement in one of Saturn’s moon, Titan. Fully loaded with guns on both arms, and a couple more on the torso, the Octan Mech is a formidable force sporting the iconic green, red, white.

Why are the mechs on Titan, you ask? Titan is a rich source of methane. And because Octan is a fuel company, it’s no surprise that they are there. But the deal with the mechs is to guard sections of the pipelines where there are titanic mutant roaches. The mutated insects feed on bacteria that surround the pipes and they eventually poke holes on the pipes. Thus, the Octan Mechs are employed to stomp them like they have never been stomped before.
