This moc will surely whet the appetite of all Lego builders out there, and especially if you’re into World War stuff. Lego Monster sure knows how to hit the mark, and he did it with his 1:20th scale Spitfire MK IX.

The Spitfire is a single-pilot fighter plane used by the Royal Air Force and other Allied nations during WWII. It was the most produced British aircraft during the war, and the only Allied fighter plane that was in production throughout the duration of World War II.

Lego Monster’s spitfire, however, dates back only in the recent months. Being famous for building mocs of great proportions, this moc is on the small side of his creations. Small it may be, but the details are stunning. Except for the lettering and the British Air Force Logo, this Spitfire is entirely done with Lego parts and pieces.

From the props, down to the landing gears (which retracts just like the real ones), everything is in Lego. And although some parts may have required some ‘fiddling’, it was a challenge the creator took in the name of creating an accurately-scaled model of the Spitfire.

World War II was as much a battle of technology as it is for dominance. One such technological advance during the war can be found in the many vehicles, battleships, and even aircrafts that were manufactured. During the war, the warring forces battled it out in the ground, the seas, and the air. And the side of the British, one of their most powerful tools in the war dominated the skies. The Spitfire was employed into service in 1938 on the onset of World War II, and was continued to be in production up until the 1950s. Mainly for frontline and secondary support fighter plane, the Spitfire served a variety of purposes during the war.
