Would you watch a movie, if it had Lego in it? Or read a novel if it had Lego on the cover? If you’re reading this, there’s a big chance that you would. But since there aren’t any Lego movies or novels out there (for now), maybe you might be contented to view these dioramas from Alex Eylar.
In his flickr photostream Alex Eylar takes scenes from that movie that turned our brains into scrambled eggs –Inception. Alex must have gotten into more than seven dreams in a dream when he thought of doing his Inception dioramas. Alex Eylar’s favorite is the hallway scene, and used it as the background to many of his dioramas of the movie. The plot, though complicated, took little effort to portray in Lego. It’s either that or Alex is just that good.
Alex also took a liking for Sucker Punch by doing a diorama imitating the movie poster. If you love babes that kick high and punch hard, then you better watch out for this movie. Yet to be released, this movie is features Emily Browning who is locked up in an insane asylum by her stepfather. The protagonist, in her plight to escape, resorts in living in an imaginary realm along with some of her other equally-beautiful inmates to try and recover items that they need for their break-out.
If you’re into novels as much as Lego, Alex Eylar’s treatment of Frank Kafka’s Metamorphosis is a delightful piece too. In the original novel’s intro, Gregor Samsa is described to have transformed into an unknown creature. The reader is left to interpret what kind of creature Gregor turned into. And for Alex and his imagination, Kafka’s writing is translated into Gregor Samsa turning into Spongbob Squarepants.
Whether it’s a movie or a novel, Alex has his Lego creations bent on pop culture. If you want to see more of his work, just head on over to his flickr photostream. We can’t post them here, some rights are reserved for those photos (yes, they are that good).
