The bug or the beetle is also known as the people’s car in Germany. In fact the words “people’s car” is the direct translation of the word “Volkswagen”.
It was called the people’s car at the time because it was the car that the people can afford. The company VW or Volkswagen was founded by the Nazi trade union in 1937. Earlier on, cars in Germany were just composed of luxury models that the average citizen cannot afford one.
With the economic boom at the time, other car manufacturers started making affordable cars to get the attention of the general population. Such examples include the Steyr 55, Adler’s AutoBahn, the Hanomag 1,3L and Mercedes’ 170H.
Today however, Volkswagen (VW) is now a large company but the original 1960s model of the VW still survives. In the world of Lego, the bug is very popular (please take a look at photos below) and are still being built by Lego enthusiasts allover the globe.

It is fun to build a Lego beetle because apart from putting the pieces or looking for the pieces you need and then putting them together, you also get to learn a little bit about its history –or you already probably know the history of the infamous vehicle since you are making it. If you are planning to make one, it would be best to share it to the world since the world cannot get enough of these cars.
Odd as it may be, even if there are already so many beautiful cars available in the market, lots of people still use the 1960s beetle. They just put new paint on it and improve its whole look and as many Americans would say, they pimp their rides. So go ahead and pimp your Lego ride and the ladies or the senior citizens who appreciate old cars will follow.
