Remember Michael Jackson’s song? This is what came to mind when Lego Duplo started releasing their People From Around The World collection.
The collection includes 16 Lego Duplo figures and they come in different colors i.e. skin color. This teaches children that not everybody is the same when it comes to physical appearance. Getting this set will also give room for parents to teach their kids about respect for other people no matter what their race is.
Race is a very delicate issue but as Vanessa Williams crooned, “You think the only people who are people, Are the people who look and think like you. But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger. You’ll learn things you never knew, you never knew.”

Teaching children about race and how to be sensitive to others as early as possible is always a good thing because it will make them learn about other peoples apart from their own. This is something that many parents forget to address that children later on have to learn it themselves.
Now for the Lego Duplo set we were talking about earlier. You can get this for only $39.99. Alright that might be a little too much for a toy but Lego lasts for a very long time and children ages 2 and above will be able to make use of the toy (or play with it rather) for a very long time. Basically, the Lego Duplo World People Set is an investment not only because you will be saving lots of money in the years to come but because you are also teaching your child a very important life lesson.
For those who are more creative, you can also insert a little history to playtime and maybe a few current stories as well. One thing is for sure however, the girl who ranted about Asians right after the Tsunami in Japan did not get one of these probably Duplo wasn’t around yet when she was 2.
