Since we talked about the white horse yesterday, let us talk about the black horse today and learn more about horses with black coats.

We know you expected this so here goes. Much like the white horse, black horses are very uncommon and are highly valued in the equestrian world.  Much like white horses, black horses are also part of myths and in religion. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse includes a horseman riding a black horse. The black horse generally depicts famine with its horseman carrying weighing scales. But let’s not go through these rather depressing details. Let us however focus on how fun it would be to have a black horse in your Lego stable.

If you have a bunch of brown horses or gray ones, it would be nice to have a black horse. If you already have the Lego white horse, it would be best if you got a black one too.

Other horses are also available from the Lego website and if you really want a very nice stable, you should get the brown horses as well. You may also make custom saddles for them in whatever colour you fancy.

For the adventurous and those who do not really want to mimic reality can repaint their horses to whatever colour they like. Whether you want a green horse or a pink one, it does not really matter as long as the horse has a stable and that they are accepted by their other Lego horse friends.

More on Black Horses

Horse breeds that are almost all black are Merens, Friesians and Murgese. The black coat is also common in Ostfriesen, Groningen, Alt-Oldenburger, Fell Pony and Dales Pony.

There are other colour types that are usually mistaken as black but those with discerning eyes know which ones are truly black horses and which ones aren’t.
