The LEGObama Administration and Abe
Monday, December 14th, 2009LegObama and its maker
Obama may be suffering in the polls these days but the rather charming President of the Unites States now has a portrait in Lego. This is of course not sold by the LEGO group and was not used during Barrack Obama’s campaign –this is just something that was done by a Lego and Obama fan.
We have already seen Barrack Obama dolls, sock monkeys and of course a statue in Indonesia (because the former senator lived there with his mother for a few years). With Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize and with much controversy, it is good that the land of Lego is still in celebration of the Obama Fever.
2Hangmen, a bricks builder, said that when he started the 30×30 inch project, he thought that it will not be that big. The portrait however is as big as the President himself (at least, today, in the rest of the world). Since Obama sat in power, his critics have been attacking him from all sides due to the healthcare system he intends to implement and the debates were not abated by him winning a Nobel Prize just a few months after being sworn in.
Fans of the first African-American President who are Legomaniacs as well are now waiting for an Obama minifig –now that would be an addition to the other US Presidents who have their own minifigs.

The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln has his own minifig. The President who served from 1861 to 1865 must not have thought that he will become a children’s building block. Well when it goes right down to technicalities, Abe is one of the greatest “building blocks” of the United States since he was the forefront of the Emancipation Proclamation –a proclamation ending black slavery. Without Abe, having an African-American President would have not been a possibility in today’s US.
Whichever the case or whatever your beliefs are, the Abe minifig and Obama’s Lego portrait do not look anything political –they are art.
