The Lego Company has been around for quite some time now. And over the years, it has had a consistent and steady growth. One of Lego’s best selling products is its Lego sets. Now it has over a dozen fun and exciting Lego sets to choose from. When it comes to innovation and creativity, Lego has never failed to impress. But just when you think that there could not possibly be more, in January 2010, Lego takes a leap into the depths of the ocean. Entering into a mystical world filled with mysterious aquatic creatures and undiscovered treasure troves. This year, Lego takes you back to the mystery of the buried city of Atlantis.

Atlantis is a brand-new underwater them from Lego. Your objective here is to collect the keys that will unlock the portals to the city of Atlantis. But this is easier said than done, because numerous deep sea creatures will be fighting you every step of the way. The salvage crew will certainly have their hands full on this one.

Atlantis has 18 thrilling sets. This includes the Monster Crab Clash. The monster crab is one of the ancient guardians of the deep. This is one has powerful claws that can crush you to pieces if you are not too careful. This set comes with a valiant diver minifigure and a treasure key to Atlantis.

Another fun set to collect is the Wreck Raider. This set comes with an Atlantis key and a deep-sea diver riding his fast-moving underwater scooter with twin turbines and deadly harpoons. But will the harpoons be lethal enough to defeat the trident brandishing Shark warrior? Buy this set and find out.

An alternate Atlantic set would be the Guardian of the Deep. This set contains the most dangerous guardian of Atlantis, a huge black shark with razor teeth with Atlantic markings all over its back, and a diver minifigure with a harpoon for protection. Will the diver’s skill in swimming and his harpoon be enough to conquer this mighty guardian and collect yet another key to open up Atlantis? Only you can tell.

However, if you are tired of fighting off deadly guardians and only want to explore the seabed for signs of Atlantis, the Seabed Scavenger is the set for you. This set has 119 pieces and two minifigures – a trident wielding Manta warrior and a deep-sea diver. The machine itself is a lot of fun to play with. It has three sturdy wheels for underwater exploration, a crab claw, deadly torpedoes and a spinning saw that can slice through anything. This thing can really hold its own against any battle.

Another exciting set you must have is the Gateway of the Squid. This is an old underwater sanctuary that can only be opened by a treasure key. This temple is the crew’s first clue to Atlantis. But this is one temple that is not easy to conquer for it has numerous traps and dangerous guardians that can be the end of you. So enter at your own peril.

Lego Minifigures: Collect them All!

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

From its humble beginnings in the 1900’s, Lego has come a long way in terms of innovation and product distribution. Now it has a vast line of products. This includes Lego Minifigures! It was around 30 years ago when the first ever Lego Minifigure emerged in the market. Since then its growth has been exceedingly phenomenal. It has grown so much in the past years that its population is now even bigger than China, amounting to around 4 billion.

But what exactly is a Lego Minifigure? And why has it become so popular? A minifigure is actually just a little figurine made out of plastic. It was originally released in the market in 1978. During that time, there were only seven figures in three different settings: Castle, Town and Space. These minifigures were all similar -they had the same facial expression.

They had two black dots for their eyes, a smile and their faces were all yellow in color. This was because Lego believed that a neutral expression stimulated a child’s imagination more. It was not until the 1980’s when the first alteration in the figure’s faces was introduced. With the release of Lego Pirates, additional features like beards and eye patches were implemented. Then in the 1990’s, Lego developed its first specialized minifigure: Lego ghost. After that Lego went tropical with its first ever island adventure theme. And what do you picture when you say island? Of course, bikinis and thongs.

Later in 1995, the second specialized minifigure was developed: Lego skeleton. This was followed by Lego western – yes – this meant little plastic cowboys and Adventurer Johnny Thunder (an action figure similar to Indiana Jones).

1999, however, was a more exciting year for Lego because it was during this time that the first licensed minifigure was launched in the form of Luke Skywalker. A year later, Lego tuned in to sports by introducing Lego Soccer followed closely by Lego Basketball. With the release of Lego Basketball, the use of legs that was spring-loaded also came into being. Shorter legs, for diminutive characters similar to Yoda, and double-sided heads were also added to the fast growing minifig collection. Double-sided heads were particularly interesting because you could change your minifig’s expression with just a swivel.

2003 marked the arrival of astronauts with the introduction of Lego Mars mission. Then came famous movie characters like Harry Potter, Spiderman, Batman and Indiana Jones. With their appearance in the market, the minifigs popularity soared on to new heights. They became so popular that although they were at first intended for children ages 8 to14, adults started collecting them as well.

Now Lego has managed to outdo itself yet again with the introduction of 16 new minifigures, each with its own set of unique and individual accessories. This collection is inspired by the everyday people that we meet that are seemingly the same at first glance, but actually have their own unique qualities. This collection is composed of Caveman, Spaceman, Demolition Dummy, Cowboy, Forestman, Nurse, Super Wrestler, Robot, Zombie, Diver, Ninja, and Magician. Alright, we rarely meet ninjas and we surely would not want to call anyone a dummy. There are no zombies we see on a daily basis and if a spaceman was around, we might be afraid to even go out. (So yeah, erase the everyday people part)

With all these minifigures to chose from, your kid will surely have a blast during play time! So what are you waiting for? Collect them all!

The World Race (Lego)

Is your child tired of the same old toys? Is he asking you, yet again, to buy him another set of toy cars or a water gun which he will get tired of after a few months? You need not worry every again. Lego has a solution. To cater to the development of each child’s creativity through play, Lego has introduced an amazing new product. This product is called, Lego World Racers. It’s the latest Racer related theme by Lego. This product is similar to the Lego Racer Series that was first released in 2010, only better. This will certainly stimulate not only your child’s creativity, but his competitive spirit as well. This is because this theme comes in two different sets:  X-treme Daredevils and Backyard Blisters. Each set has its own unique characteristics that can be used against each other during a race. What makes this series more exciting is that you get to choose a habitat of your preference to race in. Swamps, desserts, reefs, canyons, roads or mountains peak are the thrilling options your child can choose from. The vehicles also come with different weapons to do battle with, like flick firing missiles, fish missiles and harpoons.

There are actually six amazing and fun sets to chose from: Blizzard’s Peak, Dessert of Destruction, Gator Swamp, Jagged Jaws Reef, Snake Canyon and Wreckage Road. Each has its own unique accessories and mini figures that make play time more enjoyable and educational for your growing child. Blizzards Peak, for instance, comes with a helicopter, snow mobile, checkered race flag and a trophy. It is after all a competition between the X-treme Daredevils and the Backyard Blisters. And no competition would be complete without a trophy. Jagged Jaws Reef, on the other hand, comes with two race boats and features a shark and a buoy.

There has never been a Lego series more exciting than Lego World Racers! With this new innovation, every play time will be an adventure. With their different weapons and accessories who will win, the X-treme Daredevils or the Backyard Blisters? Buy now and find out!

Lego Bank Robbery?

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

There hasn’t been any bank robbery reported in Legoland lately except for the one videotaped by Scott Beale in 2009. The Lego City Bank was robbed on that fateful day but the robber was busted by the Lego Police. Thankfully no one got hurt except the guy the robber crashed into while he was on the run. the getaway car was torn into bits but good thing there was no explosion or it would have endangered more people. If you want to take a look at this video you may check it out here.

It’s a good thing that the Lego Police Department was able to contain this incident or else the robber would have victimized other banks such as the Gringotts Bank Bricktopia Branch – a rather posh bank that services the Lego elite.

If you have seen the video, the Lego City Bank did not have much of a safe to protect its monies. A reliable safe would have deterred the robber to take money as easily as he did. Although he forced one of the employees to open the safe, if it needed special codes and lots of other hassle, it would not have happened this way. But then again, someone could have gotten killed because the robber cannot open the safe.

According to Lego safe experts, a good safe for every bank should look like this:

This looks like a safe fit for Gringotts and other bigger banks but the people from Legoland believe that this kind of safe should also be used in ordinary branches.

Adding more security personnel is also a must for every Lego bank especially these days. The Lego economy is also down that is why many Legomen resort to criminal activity. Take for example the outlaws in the western part of Legoland.
